Mr Goodlad's visit to Hong Kong, 11-12 October

The Secretary of State was very grateful to Mr Goodlad for his minute of 21 October, reporting on his visit to Hong Kong.

On the question of pastoral visits, he has in mind the possibility of visiting Hong Kong at Easter after Thailand and Vietnam. This may well be timely and provide greater rewards than a further visit to Japan at that stage. This possibility should be borne in mind in the timing of other Ministerial visits to Hong Kong.
