PROPOSED VISIT BY MR GOODLAD
PERSONAL FOR PS/GH FROM MORRIS HKD
1. The Secretary of State has suggested that Mr Goodlad should pay his next visit to Hong Kong in the Autumn. The Minister wonders if the week of 11 October would be convenient (the present forecast is that Parliament will resume on 18 October but we are conscious that Lord James Douglas-Hamilton is visiting from 12 - 15 October, the Scottish Secretary is now proposing to visit from 15 to 17 October, separate telegrams refer, and that Mr Needham will be in Hong Kong on 14 October).
2. Mr Goodlad could arrive on Sunday 9 October and spend two working days in Hong Kong, (he has it in mind to combine this trip with a visit to somewhere else in the region, location to be decided later). Alternatively, if it would be more convenient the Minister could visit the other Location en route arriving in Hong Kong towards the end of that week. Grateful for your views.
