MR GOODLAD'S VISIT TO HONG KONG: 11-12 OCTOBER 1993

1.

I attach a list of briefs which are required for this

visit. A copy of the suggested programme for Mr Goodlad is

also attached.

2.

Briefing should be short and in the same format as for Mr

Goodlad's visit last May: that is to say that only checklists

and speaking notes will be required unless you perceive a

particular need for a separate background. Could I also ask for one or two paragraphs for inclusion in a covering minute

to PS/Mr Goodlad on subjects of current interest, relevant to

the meetings and calls in the programme. It may well be necessary to provide a further update just before the Minister's departure on Sunday 10 October.

Please ask Mr Gee if you would like to refer to the

briefing prepared last May.

I should be grateful to receive your contributions by cop

on Friday 1 October to enable me to submit the briefing in
