I have today proposed to Mr Levitte that we follow the order of items on the annexed list. The talks will begin when Mr Levitte arrives in my office which is expected to be at 0930.

2.

We shall work through the agenda until about 1245 (by then I would expect us to have dealt with the Far East and South East Asia and may or may not have begun on South Asia). We shall then adjourn for a working lunch. I hope that you and Mr Hum will be able to join me for lunch (my secretary will let you have details). I have suggested to Mr Levitte that we should use the lunch to discuss general Asian questions such as EC/ASEAN, APEC and Asian security issues. But of course we can raise other subjects as well.

3.

We shall continue in the afternoon for as long as is necessary to complete the agenda.
