b) in Korea there are good prospects for further cooperation on

issues related to industrial relations. My visit to the UK National Day at the Taejon Expo was successful and I was much impressed by the effective UK contribution to the event. I am writing in more detail to Douglas Hurd about this;

c) in Hong Kong there was considerable interest in our current training programmes,

in particular those for displaced workers and we shall be supplying further information on those issues;

d) my visit to Egypt was warmly welcomed by the Egyptians, who fielded a very high-level team for our various discussions. I took the opportunity to underline our appreciation of their role in recent developments in the region. There was much Egyptian interest in our approach to privatisation and deregulation and again I was able to establish a good basis for further contacts between officials.
