Finally, I was quite interested to hear that Qian Qichen, when questioned recently by some visitors from Hong Kong on the idea of a western anti-China conspiracy, said that western countries were far too busy competing with each other for a slice of China's expanding market to be organising grand conspiracies against her. This sounds a pretty sensible and down-to-earth assessment to
