Were the previous Governors entitled to Diplomatic Service Pensions for their services as Governors of Hong Kong?

Are these pensions paid by HMG?

(c) Are these pensions (and lump sum

payments if any) tax free?

My limited records on 3 previous Governors contain nothing definite on the matter. Could you please look into your records to see if you have the required information in respect of Lord MacLehose of Beoch, the late Sir Edward Youde and Lord Wilson of Tillyorn?
