Terrorist pirates and armed robbers remain a threat off Somalia and in the southern Red Sea, as was emphasized by the attack on the Maltese fishing vessel Somalian Glory on 1 March 1993 by rockets and automatic rifles (MLAAR) from 3 fast launches off Eastern Somalia. There was no boarding and no obvious motive.
