7. China Southern. Hutchison are currently in partnership with Lockheed and China Southern in Gamaco which provides the engineering services for China Southern. But Lockheed were underperforming and BA had been asked in. They were approaching this with care because they had relationships with Lockheed elsewhere in the world. But there was a chance of taking over, at least in part, from Lockheed and they already had six BA engineers at Guanghzhou. China Southern were also talking to British Airways about the provision of information management, revenue accounting, etc.

Air Service Agreement. Wilson said that existing services here were governed by an exchange of memoranda between HMG and the Hong Kong Government. He was in discussion with the Secretary for Economic Services who, he claimed, accepted the need to upgrade the existing documents into an ASA proper. the discussions over this BA would be looking for greater flexibility over final destinations for the daily flight which goes on from Hong Kong to Manila and other points.
