The current edition of the Laws of Hong Kong uses the phrase 'the High Court or the District Court' in the definition, but it should read 'the Supreme Court. or the District Court' and therefore requires adaptation.)

This
Affiliation Proceedings Ordinance (Cap. 183). provides for the maintenance and custody of illegitimate children. The British side proposes to replace Chief Justice' by 'Chief Judge of the High Court' in section 17.

Adoption Ordinance (Cap. 290). This makes provision for the adoption of children. The British side proposes to adapt it as
follows
(a) delete section 17(2) (c) (i) which refers to a Commonwealth country or the United States of America or any State or territory of the United States of America;

(a) to (a) of Rule 29 of the Adoption Rules by reference to any person for the time being authorized by law in that place to administer an oath for any judicial or other legal purpose;

replace 'High Court' by 'Court of First Instance' in sections 2 and 4A(2) & (3) of the Ordinance and in Rules 14A(1), 17 (2) and (3) and 32 of the Adoption Rules;
replace 'Supreme Court' by High Court' in Rules 14A (3), (4), (6), 20 and 26 of the Adoption Rules;
replace 'Colony' by 'Hong Kong' in sections 5(6) and 7(2) of the Ordinance and in Rules 28, 29 and Forms 4 and 4A of the First Schedule to the Adoption Rules.
