As far as
allivals from June 1993 onwards are concerned, we have CO far repatriated 167 by land to Guangdong and 876 by air to Hainan (most recent repatriation exercise took place between 9-12 November returning 539 ECVIIS to Hainan).

in addition to the above;""we ̄lave ̃17 ́uure-ñahamr ECVIIS cleared by the Chinese for repatriation but for reasons of pregnancy, required to attend court etc, they cannot be returned at this stage. We have another 453 Guangxi cases cleared by the authorities, but we are still working out landing clearance with the Chinese for our proposed repatriation flights. Adding together these numbers (872+63+17+453), we have 1,405 ECVIIS in Hong Kong of whom 935 cases are waiting clearance by the Chinese authorities. We shall continue to press the Chinese via our established border channel and the TA's office/NONA channel for these cases to be dealt with at an early date.
