Public meetings

Exemption from the Ordinance is extended to meetings of 50
persons or less, or meetings of 500 persons or less held in private
premises (clause 6).

The period of notice to be given to the Commissioner of Police,
and the particulars to be included in the notice itself, have been.
revised, and the Commissioner is required to issue an acknowledgment
of receipt of such notice (new section 8 at clause 7).

The grounds upon which the Commissioner may prohibit, or impose
conditions in respect of, the holding of a notified public meeting
are specified in new sections 9 and 11(2) at clause 7.
5. The general conditions applicable to meetings, as revised, are
included in the Bill (new section 11(1) at clause 7).
6. Every organizer of a public meeting, or a person nominated by
him, is required to be present throughout the meeting and to comply
with directions of a police officer given for the purpose of ensuring
compliance with the Ordinance (new section 11 (1) (a) and (4) at clause
7).
