(Article VII). If a State Party believes that its
planned activities in outer space could be harmful to the
activities of other States Parties, it shall undertake
appropriate consultations before proceeding with any such activity (Article IX). In order to promote international
in the peaceful exploration and use of outer
space, States Parties agree to keep the Secretary-General
of the United Nations, the public and the international
scientific community closely informed of any activities
they conduct in outer space (Article XI). The provisions of the Treaty apply to the activities of State Parties, jointly or severally, including where they are carried on within the framework of inter-governmental organisations
(Article XIII).

Instruments
The Treaty is open to all States for signature.

deposited with the Governments of the United Kingdom, the
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the United States
of America (Article XIV). The United Kingdom ratified the
Treaty ОП 10 October 1967, when it entered into force and
was applied to Hong Kong (reference at Annex B). The
People's Republic of China became party to the Treaty on 30 December 1983.
