We do not think that it would be appropriate to make a claim against the Korean Government. They had no

responsibility for the incident whereas the Soviet Government were clearly at fault in failing to make proper contact with the crew of KE 007 before shooting down the aircraft.

3. It is worth recalling that Korean Airlines have already paid $ 100,000 compensation to all but one of the Hong Kong families.
