U.S. draft comments on the 1983 ICAO report:

a certified copy of ATC tapes from the U.S. and Japan obtained from an NTSB employee; and

4.2.3
A number of explanations were sought and further information and materials were requested from the United States of America, which may require some research and time to prepare. Further contacts and discussions are taking place in this regard.
4.3
4.3.1
Republic of Korea
The ICAO team was in the Republic of Korea from 4 to 7 February 1993 and met with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transportation and Korean Air.
4.3.2
During the discussions, explanations and theories were advanced to the team on a number of technical issues and interviews were held with the co-pilot and the flight engineer of flight KE 015. In addition, the following were provided:

explanations as to possible reasons for KAL-007's course deviation;
description of a navigation system malfunction on a KAL Boeing 747-300 flight from Seoul to New York;
newspaper clipping on a Boeing 747 which became lost apparently because of the malfunctioning of two of the three navigation systems;
explanation of notations on the computer flight plan of KAL-007;

the computer flight plan of KE 015;
f)
cockpit crew statements of KE 015;
g)
passenger manifest of KAL-007:
h)
information to assist in determining the authenticity of the flight recorders; and
i)
information on modifications, if any, to the INS on KAL-007.
