We confirm that there is no objection to HKG negotiating self standing air services arrangements with PNG and that the UK will terminate the 1977 agreed minute upon the entry into operation of the Hong Kong/PNG arrangements. Should the PNG authorities seek confirmation of the UK's agreement to this course of action, then we are happy for Port Moresby to give that assurance and ready to give HKG a letter to that effect if necessary.

We note you will be sending a separate telegram about eventual negotiation of an ASA with the PNG.
