We are grateful for your agreement in para 1 of TUR and will follow up with UKRep JLG.

2. For the record, during the negotiations, we did resist the request for inclusion of "airspace" in the definition of "area" but the Myanmar legal adviser was adamant in insisting on its inclusion on the basis that the term "area" was novel. He argued, erroneously, that, unless it was specifically defined to include "airspace" it might be misconstrued. We were unable to dissuade him on this point and, on reflection, concluded that it was unlikely to result in any significant practical problem.
