9.2. RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE GOVERNMENT OF HONG KONG
The area of Hong Kong can be considered as an area of elevated radioactivity due to natural radioisotopes. Several governmental and non- governmental institutions are involved in monitoring environmental radioactivity. It is recommended that the Government of Hong Kong considers to take on an active role in coordinating these various activities, e.g. by appointing the Environmental Protection Department as the lead agency. The results of these coordinated efforts could be an increased efficiency in the use of the available local resources.
