At JLG XXVI in June 1993, the Chinese side agreed that the initialled HK/Sweden IPPA could be signed subject
to some amendments to the Chinese language text.
On 26 August 1993, we informed the Chinese side.
that the Swedish Government were considering the proposed
amendments. We are pleased to say that they have accepted
all those amendments.

The Swedish Government have now proposed that we
amend Articles 3 and 7 of the initialled text to reflect
their new policy and law which enables them to offer
treatment to foreign investors equal to the treatment
granted to domestic investors (so-called "national
treatment"). As we explained in our paper of 24 July 1992,

allow such treatment. Sweden is now in a position to offer
"national treatment" and is therefore willing to accept the
precise wording of Articles 3(1) and (2) and Article 7 of

text of Articles 3 and 7.
