and Culture has written separately advising you that HKG

will seek to provide copyright protection to

subscription cable television by local legislation.

Thus whether provisions of the 1984 Cable and

Broadcasting Act could be extended to Hong Kong by means

of a mechanis contained in the 1956 Act as extended to

Hong Kong, is now purely academic. What remains to be

addressed is the conflicting legal opinion on the scope

and effect of the 1990 Order.
