It was great to see you during my brief visit to London. I look forward to another get-together in the margins of JLG XXVIII.
Speaking of the JLG meeting, I have just received an invitation (No 562) from Alastair Goodlad to a reception at the Grand Locarno Room on Tuesday 7 December. Grateful if you could inform his Private office that I am pleased to accept.
I have just agreed with Hugh Davies that Nicholas Ng should sit-in on this JLG meeting and to make use of the opportunity to do the rounds in FCO. He will be writing to Peter Ricketts on the details. There are two matters perhaps, if convenient, you might look into for him -
(a) he would like to have a FCO pass similar to the
one issued to me
(b)
assuming that Goodlad's reception is for all participants of the JLG meeting, could you please inform Goodlad's Private office Nicholas's attendance so that they can decide whether to✓ extend an invitation to him. There is also a dinner planned for 8 December to which I think Nicholas should be invited.

I might also raise this with Ricketts when I see him in Peking.
