MR GOODLAD'S OFFICE DSEF: REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING SINO/BRITISH JLG DINNER
1.
Mr Cameron's minute of 1 December regretted that PSD are not inclined to meet the cost of the JLG dinner on 8 December this year.
The guests are, at highest, of Ambassadorial level, so we are unable to approach GHF for funding. therefore writing to you for help.

The demands on our DSEF for the rest of the 93/94 FY including the JLG dinner, are estimated as follows:

Taken from our current balance of £5,435 we are therefore looking at an immediate overspend on 8 or 9 December of about £700 without taking projected expenditure of £2,400 into account.
3. We are obliged by a binding agreement with China to host the JLG and invitations to the Minister's Annual Reception have already issued. We are therefore committed to both events. If PSD really cannot meet the cost of the JLG dinner, as you did last year, can I propose that you meet our immediate overspend of £700 and that we pass on our bills for projected expenditure as they are received.
