JLG XXVIII: ADMINISTRATIVE ARRANGEMENTS
1. Many thanks for your letter of 7 October. I understand that Charles Garrett has subsequently established that the Locarno Room is booked for the whole of the week beginning 6 December; and that we can therefore plan on holding the JLG from 7-9 December (which are of course the dates we have already put to Guo). I quite see that you must go firm soon. It will be up to me to ensure that Guo is there on the dates. If he has any immediate problems (rather than political ones which may emerge nearer the time), he will no doubt let us know when we dine with him next week. Meanwhile, you should certainly go ahead with bookings.
2. My comments seriatim:
Working lunch
Yes.
Let us go for the OAB, your budget, and your choice of menu. I suggest we go for 7 December (ie, day one).
Mr Goodlad's dinner
I
Noted. Presumably you have booked the Locarno Suite too. would have a preference for the evening of 8 December, on the grounds that this might give us an opportunity for informal discussion of some agenda times before the end of the meeting.
Entertainment
I assume the trip would be on the day immediately following the meetings. I will contact the Master of Churchill College to ask about possibilities. He might prefer to offer dinner rather than lunch. Could OVIS get the party back to London after dinner that evening if so? It must be only an hour's drive or train ride.
