provisions of the ordinance concerning, inter alia, the definitions of "dependant" and "employee", compulsory insurance, and level of fines. The report also recommended means to expedite the processing of claims for employees' compensation, a loan scheme for fatal cases, the re-organisation of the Employees' Compensation Division and other administrative measures to improve the system. The Labour Department is now in the process of consulting the relevant authorities on the proposed changes which will be implemented by stages.
Three copies of the Employees' Compensation Ordinance, Chapter 282 (revised edition" 1988) are attached herewith. The extent to which the provisions of existing legislation comply with the requirements of the convention are set out in the answers to the various articles.

The Employees' Compensation Ordinance and subsidiary legislation made thereunder provide for the payment of compensation to employees who have sustained injuries in accidents arising out of and in the course of employment, or to dependants of employees who have been fatally injured.

member of the employer's family employed by and residing with the employer is entitled to the benefits of the ordinance, if, at the time of the accident, there is in force a valid insurance policy in respect of that family member.
