However, the Director of Marine is vested with the power to exempt any ship or class of ships from any requirements on crew accommodation, either absolutely or subject to such conditions as he may think fit.

All officers of a trade union are required to be or to have been engaged or employed in the trade, industry or occupation with which the trade union is directly concerned but this requirement may be modified at the discretion of the public authority.
