INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONFERENCE 1993
The 1993 IL Conference will take place in Geneva from 2-22 June. As you know, this Department is responsible for the administrative arrangements for the UK Delegation.
I should be grateful if you could enquire as to whether any of the FCO Non-Metropolitan Territories wish to be represented at this year's Conference. This would obviously be at their own expense. We would need to know as soon as possible (by 12 February) if any territories do
do wish
wish to send an observer delegation, as their attendance would have to be put before next month's meeting of the ILO Governing Body so that a formal invitation can be issued. There is, however, no need to finalise names at this stage.
Hong Kong will also need to consider whether it wishes to send representatives again as part of the UK Delegation, bearing in mind that they would have to bear the cost.
