The exceptions permitted under this article have not been. made use of. In case of an emergency or in case of work which is of special training value and which may not come about again during the rest of the apprenticeship, a registered apprentice aged 16 or above may be allowed to be employed, under regulation 10 of the Apprenticeship Regulations, on overtime in excess of the aggregate number of overtime hours, or in excess of the total hours which may be worked in any day, permitted under regulation 9.

Article 6
Regulation 9 of the Women and Young Persons (Industry) Regulations requires an employer to post conspicuously in a place easily accessible to all workers a notice specifying the hours of employment of young persons employed in the industrial undertaking.
Regulation 19 of the above regulations specifies that an employer who contravenes regulation 8(1) commits an offence and is liable to a fine of $5,000.
The provisions of the Women and Young Persons (Industry) Regulations are enforced by the Labour Inspectorate, which conducts inspections of industrial undertakings at all times of the day, including early morning, late evening, holidays and Sundays.
Under regulations 16 and 17 of the Women and Young Persons (Industry) Regulations, the employer is required to keep a register of all young persons aged under 18 years employed by him in the prescribed form, eight copies of which are attached herewith.

During the period under review, 124 129 night visits were conducted by the Labour Inspectorate to industrial undertakings in connection with the employment of women and young persons. visits resulted in 102 prosecution cases concerning the employment of young persons during prohibited hours, with total fines of HK345 250.
Regulation 4(f) of the Apprenticeship Regulations requires an employer to specify in the contract of apprenticeship the normal hours of attendance by the registered apprentice concerned at his place of employment. Regulation 16(2)(b) requires an employer to maintain and submit to the Director of Technical Education and Industrial Training, at six monthly intervals, a record of particulars of all over- time worked by his registered apprentices. Regulation 12 prescribed various fines for contravening the various regulations. No prosecutions have been instituted for contravening any of the regulations during the period under review.
