(REVISED), 1948 (NO. 90)
CONVENTION
This convention was first applied to Hong Kong with modification by a declaration registered by the International Labour Organisation (IIC) on 9 August 1978. An improved declaration with modification in respect of Article 3(1) only was registered by the ILO on 9 April 1981. This convention has not been ratified by the United Kingdom. The declaration in respect of Hong Kong was communicated to the ILO by the United Kingdom Government in connection with the ratification of the Labour Standards (Non-Metropolitan Territories) Convention, 1947 (No. 83).
A full report was submitted by the Government of Hong Kong in 1985. For the period under review, the position has remained unchanged oxccpt as follows :

"Three copies of (c) were attached to the previous roport on this convention for the period ending 30 June 1985. Three copies of (a) were attached to the report on Convention No. 81 for the period ending 30 June 1987. Three copies of (b) have been attached to the current report on Convention No. 105."

(Roplace the first paragraph by the following :)

"Under section 2 of the Employment Ordinance, a "young person" moans a person who has attained the age of 15 years but not the age of 18 years."

(Replace "$5,000" in the 3rd line of the second paragraph by "$10,000".)
(Replace "holidays" in the 4th line of the third paragraph by "late night".)
(Replace the fifth paragraph by the following : >
"During the period under review, 254 086 night visits were conducted by the Labour Inspectorate to industrial undertakings in connection with the employment of women and young persons. Those visits resulted in 86 prosecution cases concerning the employment of young persons during prohibited hours, with total fines of $43,050."
