While strongly in
support of the proposal,
Members were of the view that the use of the Exchange
Fund to finance some of the costs of the meetings
might be

The Council ADVISED and the Governor ORDERED

(a) approval should be given for a formal
application to be made for the 1997

Bank/International
Monetary Fund
Meetings to be held in
Hong Kong, subject to the Finance
Committee's acceptance of the financial
commitments; and
