Dear Mr. Peretz,

As James is tied up with meetings this afternoon, I am writing to update you on our discussion with Erik Friis.

We met with Friis at lunch and went through with him our suggested amendments to the draft invitation letters and MOU. He did not have much comments as the drafting of these documents did not fall within his province. He handed over to us a draft memorandum on the provision of services and facilities, which we are now studying. We will fax a copy to you if it can be finalised

tomorrow.

Friis mentioned that the Chinese EDS have indicated that they have some comments but details are not known yet. Whether Thahane will visit HK next week will depend on whether the drafts can be agreed by the end of this week.

We would be grateful if you would keep us posted of developments on your side.
