BIODIVERSITY AND CLIMATE CHANGE CONVENTIONS: TERRITORIAL SCOPE OF

THE UK RATIFICATION

Summary

1. The UK aims to ratify the Biodiversity and Climate Change Conventions by the end of 1993. It is necessary now to have a decision on the Dependent Territories (DTs) inclusion in the UK's ratification. Reply required by 15 November 1993.

2. On 9 July Roger Bone wrote to you about a number of environmental issues. Several of you have expressed the desire for more information particularly about the Climate Change Convention. ESED have provided, in their letter of 25 October, further information on the compilation of inventories necessary for the Climate Change Convention.

3. The UK aims to ratify the Climate Change and Biodivesity Conventions before the end of 1993. We need to know whether the UK's ratification should be extended to you. As far as our records show the current position is:-
