3. Programme and opening session

Attached you find the programme for the Shanghai session.
The session will be opened on 13 May 1993 at 4.30 p.m. in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Zhu Rongji who will make a statement. This event will take place in the ballr om of the former French Club in the Garden Hotel, which is right opposite the Jin Jiang Towers. The diplomatic corps, Chinese dignitaries and the national and international press are being invited to attend. Following the opening, H.E. Mr. Zhu Rongji will host a reception for the participants at the Garden Hotel.
The eleventh session will conclude on 16 May 1993 in the early afternoon.
Following the conclusion of the session, the Chinese Government has invited the members of the Council and the special guests to travel to Beijing for meetings with the Chinese leadership. Acco: lingly, arrangements are being made that a special Government plane will take all participants wishing to oin on 16 May 1993 in the evening to Beijing.
The President of China will receive the participants on 17 May 1993 in the afternoon and in the evening of 17 May 1993, the Premier of the State Council will host a banquet in honor of the participants. During the day of 17 May 1993, some sightseeing can be arranged.
The Chairman of the InterAction Council, Mr. Helmut Schmidt, has advised the Chinese authorities that he gladly accepts the invitation, but that he is not in a position to give an assurar :e that all members and special guests are willing to join for this additional period of time. Nevertheless, he has expressed his belief that most members would like to join him.
