NEW KUOMINTANG ALLIANCE (NKMTA)
Thank you for sending me a copy of your letter PAO(S) 29/64 of 4 June to Rod Bunten in Hong Kong Department about the antics of an NKMTA delegation which recently visited Hong Kong.

Clearly, their activities were quite unacceptable in terms of the declarations which they had made in their visa applications. Revoking the multi-entry visas of at least the worst offenders would be a just reward and would not, I think, cause us any difficulties here in terms of our relations with the Taiwanese authorities. However, there might be some advantage in our telling the Ministry of Foreign Affairs what has been done and warning them that action of this nature by visiting groups in the future will result in similar treatment.
3. I could usefully make the point as well with Jason Hu, Director-General of the Government Information Office, whose own case for a multi-entry visa is, I hope, under active consideration (my telno 7 to Hong Kong refers).
4. As for the NKMTA itself, it is difficult yet to say what force or impact it is having. I took Julia Painting to call on the leader of the Alliance on 23 March during her familiarisation visit. She took notes of the meeting but I have not yet seen anything in writing. Perhaps she could copy her record of the meeting, which I imagine will be pretty short because Mr Yok
