1. Air France Asie began direct non-stop flights from Paris to Taipei on 7 November, and EVA Air began serving the route on 16 November.

UK-Taiwan ties

12. The House of Commons Trade and Industry Committee second visit to Taiwan, investigated the competitiveness of Taiwan's manufacturing industry. The Anglo-Taiwan Trade Committee in London, and the Railway Industries Association, sponsored the largest ever trade UK mission to Taiwan. Taiwan's Investment Commission approved Eagle Star/the President Group's plan to set up a joint venture life insurance company.
