As you previously reported, Ni is a pleasant man who (now at least) seems to have a very sensible grasp of our position and the limitations it places on our scope for developing any contacts with Taiwan. He reassured me, as I know he has reassured you, that the last thing he or Taipei want is to cause us embarrassment.
