I asked about South Korea-Taiwan relations since the breaking of diplomatic links. Mr Lee said feeling was still sour in Taiwan but in time a new relationship would be worked out. There remained a problem over Taiwanese schools in Korea. He was critical of the last Taiwan Ambassador in Korea who thought he had the ear of the Korean Government and had told Taipei that there was no chance of such a rift while he was there. He was proved quite wrong.

Attached is a copy of an article on Taiwan's policy towards the Chinese mainland given to us by Mr Lee. He encouraged us to call on his office when in Taipei and warmly offered all manner of assistance.
