A decision on combatting misuse of public funds by public servants adopted by the Shenzhen People's Congress

Standing Committee on 10 November calls for swift action to

commence judicial proceedings against offenders (WWP 11 Nov).

Speaking at the donation ceremony for the Shenzhen-Zhuhai Expressway, Deputy Mayor Li Guangzhen said that

Shenzhen would step up activities to combat crime. He said that so far this year over 100 people suspected of corruption had sneaked into Shenzhen from other places and more than 30 of them

had been arrested (TKP 15 Nov).

In a campaign against traffic offenders launched on 1

November, over 3,590 cases of drivers passing through red lights

had been spotted by traffic police at several locations in

Guangdong up to the middle of the month (SSZD 16 Nov).

According to a report in WWP (18 Nov), at Shenzhen Airport on 12 November, one person with a concealed fire-arm and another with a tear-gas gun were intercepted.

Shenzhen's gross value of industrial production for the first half year was Y20,080m (in 1990 prices), an increase of 39.11% over the first half of 1992. This included exports valued at Y11,148m, an increase of 33.4% (SD 26 Sept).

Shenzhen's total industrial output for the first 9 months of this year amounted to Y32,703m, an increase of 35.9% over the same period of last year (SSZD 13 Nov).

A Xinhua feature, published in SSZD of 12 November reviewed the progress of Shenzhen from 1979 to 1992, saying that agreed foreign investment during that period amounted to US$9,853m and foreign investment actually used amounted to

US$4,548m. The number of overseas invested enterprises exceeded
