Resolution on the National Day

of the People's Republic of China adopted by the

Committee of the Central People's Government

at its 4th Meeting held on 2.12.1949

At its first meeting held on 9.10.1949, the First National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) adopted the proposal of "Requesting the Government to explicitly set the first of October as the National Day of the People's Republic of China to replace the old National Day of the tenth of October", which was submitted to the Central People's Government for adoption and implementation.

In view of the fact that this proposal of the First National Committee of the CPPCC was in line with historical facts and the wishes of the people, the Committee of the Central People's Government decided to adopt it.

The Committee of the Central People's Government hereby declared that with effect from 1950, the first of October, that is the great day on which the People's Republic of China was founded, shall be the National Day of the People's Republic of China.
