ADDRESSES BY MR GOODLAD TO STAFFORDSHIRE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (SDA) ON 5 FEBRUARY 1993: AND TO CHESTER CITY CLUB ON 12 FEBRUARY 1993

1. Thank you for sight of the draft speech circulated with your minute of 14 January (not to all or needed). Goodlad has commented that it looks to be "good stuff". I understand that the organisers would like the Minister to speak for about 30-40 minutes: your draft text therefore seems about the right length.

2.

You are due to submit a final version for the Minister's box on 29 January. I should be grateful if you would ensure that the Special Advisers are content with this. Please let us have the relevant diskette when you submit, so that we can carry out any final editing, put the speech onto cards for the Minister etc.

3. The Minister is also now due to address the Chester City Club Annual Dinner on 12 January. A topped and tailed version of the speech to the SDA would be appropriate for this event too, but it would be helpful to inject a little local colour on Chester if there is anything appropriate to say. I should be grateful if you would let me have this, in the form of specific amendments to the SDA speech, by close of play on 9 February.
