are
Chen Guoping phoned me (after failing to contact both
of you) and said he was instructed to launch a protest about activities organised bylroups under the HK Alliance yesterday evening at arpithd 6.00 p.m. and 11.45 p.m. outside NCNA during which loudhers were used and anti-Chinese slogans were chanted. Chen referred to previous
#
representations from Yg Youyong and Li Hexie several times to you both. In particular, he pointed out that a number of provocative anti-Chine slogans were put up around the Queen Elizabeth Stadium oppotte the NCNA building and a dozen black flags were placed in front of the NCNA building (these flags were removed by NCNA staff after the events). Chen repeated the usual line that were committed not to allow Ha to become a subversive basfor China; NCNA was an official representative body of Chinese Government in HK and that the HKG had a responsility to protect NCNA staff from being disturbed by trouble-makers.
2.
Chen requested that we take action to remove the posters around the Que Elizabeth Stadium (he remarked he was not so concerned about the 'neutral ones') and take action against these June 4 activities. He referred to the candlelight assembly to be held in Victoria Park tonight and said this time last yetrila group of participants at the Victoria Park rally maliched to the NCNA building after the rally and caused disturbances. He said they did not wish to see a repeat of such
idents.
