KUNG PAO COMMENTARY ACCUSED THE GOVERNOR OF DELIBERATELY SABOTAGING THE SINO-BRITISH TALKS. AN ARTICLE IN WEN WEI PO SAID THE TRIP WAS AIMED AT WOOING THE US AND WESTERN POWERS TO COLLABORATE WITH BRITAIN TO TURN HK INTO AN INDEPENDENT POLITICAL ENTITY.
