Eve-Ann Prentice, Diplomatic Correspondent of The Times contacted News Department today with a report that there was quote Chinese Ministry statement unquote - we assume this means the MFA - on 14 December to the effect that the Chinese
(authorities were withdrawing cooperation from the BBC.
2. We are unsighted. The BBC are unable to confirm this and the Chinese Embassy (as ever) claim to know nothing about it. Are you aware of any such statement? If so, can you clarify what the withdrawal of cooperation amounts to?
