Dear Jeremy,
For the Alastair Goodlad interview, Jonathan will be asking him about his thoughts with regard to recent developments in the Hong Kong saga.
Please would you remind Mr. Goodlad that the interview as well as the meeting that we will be filming on Thursday are not for publication before mid-1997, as per our previous agreement with Douglas Hurd and Francis Cornish and Mr. Goodlad himself.
The question areas will be as follows:
The feelings about Chinese behaviour in recent weeks.
What the FO's response is to the recent House of Lords & Select Committee meetings?
What importance do you attach to all party support in the Commons.
The importance of Chris Patten being a politician as governor at the present time, as opposed to the more traditional governor roles of the past.
General sense of mood at the moment anxiety, confidence ?
