FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS
Thank you for your letter of the 6th August which I received yesterday.
I was delighted to learn of the progress which has been made in clarifying arrangements relating to the late Sir S K Tang's very generous bequest.
The terms outlined in your letter seem most satisfactory and likely to be wholly acceptable to the Institute - and I foresee no problems in giving effect to them when incorporated in an agreement between HMG and the Institute. Mr Jonathan Kipling, the Secretary of the Institute, is away from the office at the present time but I will put your letter before him upon his return next week. I shall also ensure, of course, that your letter is seen by Sir Kenneth Stowe and Professor Garland, the Chief Executive of the Institute.
As you will probably be aware, the Institute is a recipient from time to time of bequests under a Sign Manual Direction by HM Attorney General. The Treasury Solicitor is sent regularly a copy of our Annual Report which keeps his office well informed regarding our work.
