However, as you know, we are keen to maintain our academic links with Hong Kong, now and post-1997 and we would therefore like to make provision for future scholarships for Hong Kong students in lieu of the Joint Funding Scheme. On present estimates we would aim to set aside £0.5 million for Hong Kong Scholarships. We are still exploring options and will let you have our proposals as soon as we can.
We will of course, continue to support UK/Hong Kong Scholarships.
