Many thanks indeed for your letter of 21 January enclosing the register of scholars who have benefited under the Jardine Foundation.
The present scholars look to be an exceptionally able group who will have a lot to offer Hong Kong in the years to come. This is clearly a very worthwhile programme, and I was glad you briefed me about it.
As a foot-note, perhaps I can say as a Pembroke Oxford man, how sorry I was to see that the best college in Oxford does not seem to be benefiting from the awards!
