The following assumptions have been adopted in arriving at the estimate:
1) The investigating process has yet to start, the success rate is
assumed to be 100% at this stage; and
2)
The 1994/95 grant / loan split is to be maintained.
As mentioned in my letter of 8 June 1995, more accurate assessment of the requirements will only be available later because assistance to successful applicants would not be paid out until they have submitted confirmation of promotion to the next year of studies in mid-October and some applicants might appeal against the outcome of their applications.
I hope the above information could serve any useful purposes for your planning of re-deployment of funds.
