Shortly before his death in 1986 Sir S K Tang bequeathed

HMG £1 million as a foundation fund from which the accrued

interest was to be used for charitable purposes.

It was

agreed that one third would go to the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) and two thirds to fund the study of Hong Kong students in the UK, preferably under the administration of the

British Council. The capital itself was to be left untouched.

4. Since 1986 the funds have remained in Hong Kong and have

legalfees.2204
