Thank you for your letter of 3 July which continues our exchanges on the planning for our joint scholarships scheme' over the next few years.

I note the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club would prefer to commit a precise sum of £100,000 per year over a three year period starting in 1993/94 and that you would like us to fall in with this plan. We are certainly happy to do so but with the proviso that as I have earlier explained, the only funding we have for this scheme is that from the £40,000 FÇOSAS provision and the two-thirds interest from the
