How should we accomplish these aims?

total amount of British investment in Hong Kong and China

categorised by industry, size, region (for China), type (direct, j.v. etc), date etc

related to total investment from other national sources and relevant categorizations update regularly (say 6 monthly).

this point deserves some reinforcement. British investment in Hong Kong has tended to be the Cinderella of the British commercial presence in the territory but is in fact very substantial indeed. Appendix 2 provides figures for the publicly quoted British managed and controlled groups with a major presence in Hong Kong. This of course only provides part of the picture but nevertheless indicates total investment in the territory of some (GBP39 billion.
